Training and Development
As the representative voice of General Practice in North Yorkshire & York, Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven, YORLMC, has a responsibility to practices to review its services and ensure the current needs of General Practice are being met. As a result and following the publication of the five-year GP contract deal agreed between GPC England and NHS England in January 2019, YORLMC's Board has been giving the changing landscape careful thought. The benefit of early changes are already being seen through the work delivered by the recently announced speciality leads Dr John Crompton, (PCN & System Integration) and Dr John Bibby (Wellbeing), both of whom are supported by the Corporate Affairs Team.
It is fair to say that General Practice is facing unprecedented change and challenge. The NHS Long Term plan and 5 Year Framework for GP Contract reform set out the biggest changes for Primary Care and the NHS in a generation. As well as establishing Primary Care Networks to ensure the sustainability and resilience of General Practice through working at scale, they also set out an ambitious programme for service redesign and system integration across health and social care.
The resource and investment being made available to General Practice is directed towards clinicians. In order to maximise the opportunities for real transformational change that will improve the working lives of clinicians and patient outcomes, consideration is also now being given by YORLMC to the role and development needs of practice managers and other non-clinical colleagues working alongside GPs. We will keep you informed as developments take place.
In the meantime, some of our activities, including some elements of YORLMC’s Education Training & Development work (ETD) are being paused.
(Please note, we are contacting individuals if there is any change to any booking already made.)
With regard to accessing training YORLMC is pleased to signpost practices & GPs to its existing network of established training providers here
